April 15, 2025 - If you are a fan of high scoring softball games, Monday night’s matchup with Whiteland would have served you nicely. After getting down 5-0 after just half of an inning, it looked like it was going to be a long night for the Bull Dogs. However, the Dogs answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning and the runs just kept piling up for both squads. The Dogs led 13-11 heading to the top of the seventh inning, but a three-run seventh by the Warriors put them up 14-13 with a half inning to play. The Dogs were unable to answer in the bottom of the seventh and fell to 1-4 for the season. Bailee Scruggs got the pitching start for North, lasting just one inning. She gave up six runs (five earned) on nine hits while striking out two. Payton Morris threw the final six innings, allowing eight runs and striking out ten. Both pitchers were hurt by defensive errors that the Dogs will look to clean up as the season progresses. North committed six errors, leading to eight unearned runs for the game. Morris and Avery Sheehan each had three hits for the Bull Dogs, and Lily Retz hit a homerun and had three RBI. Ali Wooten also had three RBI for the Dogs. The Bull Dogs will host Seymour this evening (April 15) in a varsity/JV doubleheader. The varsity game is scheduled to get underway at 5:30 pm with a four-inning JV game to follow. Photo: Avery Sheehan was 3-for-4 including a double in a 14-13 loss to Whiteland on Monday evening (April 14).
