February 24, 2023 - Damon Edwards had twelve points and Drew Schiefer added eleven as the varsity boys basketball team battled and fell to Center Grove 57-46, completing their regular season at 14-8. The Dogs led the very physical game at the half, 27-22, but were outscored 20-9 in the third quarter and never led again. The Trojans (20-2) and Bull Dogs combined to shoot only ten free throws the entire game despite the physical nature of the game. Cooper Horn had nine points at halftime, leading all scorers, but was held scoreless in the second half. In the early game, the Bull Dogs held a slim lead in the fourth quarter, but were unable to hold off the Trojans and finished their season 15-4 after a 60-54 loss. Caleb Ferguson had 15 points and Garrett Long chipped in 13 for North. The future is certainly bright for the Bull Dogs as the freshmen and JV teams combined to go 31-7 this season. Columbus North will face Franklin Community in the first round of the IHSAA Sectional tournament on Tuesday, February 28. The Bull Dogs beat the Grizzly Cubs in double overtime on February 18.
