March 12, 2023 - Bloomington North led for exactly 3.7 seconds in the boys basketball Regional Championship game at Seymour High School. Unfortunately for Columbus North, those were the final 3.7 seconds of the game, as the Cougars won 45-43, concluding the Dogs’ season with a 17-9 record. The Dogs led throughout, including a double-digit lead in the second half, but 5-for-12 from the free throw line for the game doomed the Bull Dogs. The Bull Dogs shot 71% from the free throw line as a team for the season, but misses down the stretch cost kept the Cougars in the game, setting up a last-second tip-in by JQ Roberts to secure the Regional Championship for Bloomington North (19-5). The Dogs’ defense gave the Cougars difficulty all game long, as they built a 24-12 halftime lead. The Cougars battled back in the third quarter, outscoring the Bull Dogs 16-8 to set up a 17-11 advantage in the fourth quarter to decide the game. Cooper Horn finished with 17 points for Columbus North and Damon Edwards chipped in ten in the loss. The Dogs will graduate six seniors after this season, including all five starters in the Regional Championship game.
