North tennis suffers season’s first losses at Avon Invite

May 5, 2025 - The Avon Invitational showcases a number of the state’s top tennis programs each spring. The Bull Dogs had a rough weekend, dropping all three matches and falling to 6-3 in team matches this season. Results vs Avon (on Friday, May 2). Team lost 2-3 3S Ayane Umemura L 3-6, 1-6 1S: Aya Saad W 6-2, 6-2 2S: Lucy Bergman L 2-6, 2-6 2D: Grace Conner/Lizzie Bodart L 1-6, 4-6 1D: Annabelle Sun/Nino Akhalaya W 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 Results vs Penn (on Saturday, May 3). Team lost 1-4 2S: Bergman L 2-6, 1-6 1D: Sun/Akhalaya W 6-1, 6-0 3S: Umemura L 3-6, 1-6 1S: Saad L 2-6, 2-6 2D: Conner/Bodart L 6-4, 4-6, 9-11 Results vs Jasper (on Saturday, May 3). Team lost 0-5 3S: Umemura L 1-6, 0-6 2S: Bergman L 1-6, 1-6 2D: Conner/Bodart L 0-6, 0-6 1D: Sun/Akhalaya L 2-6, 3-6 1S: Saad L 6-7(5), 4-6 The Bull Dogs will travel to Edgewood on Monday afternoon to take on Terre Haute South in a Conference Indiana matchup.
