May 6, 2025 - Center fielder Brock Kintner (shown) was 3-for-4 from the plate and had five RBI as the Bull Dogs beat Shelbyville at home Monday night 9-8. The Bull Dogs welcomed the area youth baseball players as their guests Monday night, and the youngsters were able to hang out in the dugout with the players and be on the field for the National Anthem prior to the game. The Bull Dogs pounded out 15 hits against the Golden Bears as Jack Whaley joined Kintner with three hits and an RBI. Lane Schrader and Jackson Newman each had two hits, as each member of the starting lineup for the Bull Dogs tallied at least one hit. The Dogs had built a 9-5 lead through five innings and were able to hold off a late Golden Bear rally to collect their second straight victory. Dillon Long got the start on the mound for the Bull Dogs (7-8), lasting 2-⅔ innings and allowing five runs on six hits. Franko Ortega took the ball for the next 3-⅔ innings and gave up three runs on five hits. Joey Fry came on in relief in the top of the seventh and closed out the final two outs to preserve the victory. The Bull Dogs will host Silver Creek for Senior Night this evening (May 6), beginning at 6:00. The JV (White) team will also play a home game as they take on Hauser’s JV at 5:00.
