May 8, 2025 - Columbus North softball traveled back to Southport on Wednesday evening to complete a game that had been started and then suspended on April 24. The Dogs led 2-0 in the second inning with Bailee Scruggs pitching when play was suspended due to lightning last month and the game picked up where it left off on Wednesday night. Scruggs and the Bull Dogs completed the game with a 4-1 victory, remaining perfect at 2-0 in Conference Indiana play. Scruggs allowed just one unearned run on three hits while striking out nine and walking only one Cardinal batter. The Dogs committed three defensive errors behind Scruggs, who also had two hits and a pair of RBI at the plate. Payton Morris and Morgan Jarvis each recorded triples as the Dogs tallied ten hits for the game. North got two hits each from Scruggs, Jarvis, Morris, Destiny Allman, and Avery Shehan. The JV game was canceled Wednesday night due to a roster shortage by Southport because of injury. The Bull Dogs will host Greenwood in a varsity-only non-conference matchup on Thursday night, May 8, beginning at 5:30 pm at the Southside Elementary diamonds.
