May 12, 2025 - Senior Joey Fry pitched a gem at Columbus East on Friday night. A complete game, two hitter with twelve strikeouts and just two walks. Columbus North batters drew six walks, were hit by pitch twice, and struck out only three times. On most nights, this is a recipe for success. However, even though the Dogs were able to bunt and sacrifice base runners into scoring position, the scoreboard continued to show all zeros as the Dogs stranded 13 baserunners and fell to cross-town rival Columbus East. Brock Kintner had two of the Bull Dogs’ five hits, but the Dogs (7-10) just couldn’t get the timely hit to drive across any runs. After a delayed steal home helped the Olympians put two runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Bull Dogs put the first two hitters on base in the top of the seventh inning and looked to be in position to start a late rally. However, a strikeout, pop up, and ground out ended the threat and the game. The Dogs will host Westfield on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 pm. The JV team beat Pike 18-5 on Thursday, May 8, and the JV (White) team will host Mooresville this evening at Southside Elementary.
