Tennis collects a pair of weekend victories

May 12, 2025 - After three losses at last weekend’s Avon Invitational, the Bull Dogs bounced back on Friday and Saturday with a pair of victories, including a Conference Indiana triumph that kept the Dogs undefeated in conference play. The Bull Dogs traveled to Terre Haute North Friday night to take on the Patriots in a Conference Indiana showdown, with the Dogs prevailing 4-1 to remain a perfect 4-0 in conference play. Columbus North got victories from Aya Saad (6-0, 6-0), Lucy Bergman (6-0, 6-0), and both doubles teams (Annabelle Sun/Molly Richards 6-4, 6-2, and Grace Conner/Lizzie Bodart 6-1, 6-3). The Patriots lone victory came at three singles, as Bull Dog Ayane Umemura fell 4-6, 4-6. After a late night Friday, the Dogs made the early morning trip to Lawrenceburg on Saturday morning and came home with a 3-2 victory. Sun and Nino Akhalaya teamed up for a 6-1, 6-1 victory at one doubles, followed by a 6-1, 6-0 victory at two singles by Bergman. The Bull Dogs secured the team victory with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at two doubles by Conner and Bodart. Lawrenceburg took the final two matches, including a 1-6, 0-6 victory at three singles (Umemura) and a 3-6, 6-2, 6-10 decision at one singles (Richards). The Dogs will host Providence this afternoon (May 12) for a match that is scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm.
