March 31, 2023 - Head coach Ron McDonald’s Columbus North softball team began their season with an 11-1 five-inning victory over visiting East Central at the Southside Diamonds on Thursday evening. Senior Maddi Rutan threw a complete-game three-hitter, striking out eleven batters. Rutan gave up one earned run and allowed one walk. The Bull Dogs hit the ball hard all night, scattering line drive after line drive in racking up eleven runs. Rutan had three hits, while Kirsten Danford, Kelsey Lovelace, and Miley McClellan each tallied a pair of hits for the victorious Dogs. The Bull Dogs (1-0) will host Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South in a Conference Indiana Saturday double-header on April 1. First pitch against Terre Haute North is scheduled for 12:00 noon, with the second game against South to follow approximately 2:00 pm.
