Late inning rally costs Bull Dogs in softball

May 13, 2025 - Columbus North softball led at Brownstown Central 3-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth inning. The Braves scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth and three more in the bottom of the sixth and held on for a 7-4 victory over the Bull Dogs. Payton Morris had three hits, including a triple, and the Dogs (8-10) got two each from Miley McClellan, Lily Retz, and Avery Shehan. Morris also got the pitching start and lasted four innings, giving up four runs (one earned) on just two hits. She walked five and struck out seven. Bailee Scruggs came on in relief for the final two innings. She allowed three runs on four hits and struck out one. The JV team (2-4-1) lost 10-0 in the nightcap. Next up for the Bull Dogs is a road trip to Bloomington South this evening (May 13) for a Conference Indiana matchup.
