April 5, 2023 - The Bull Dogs scored a run in each of the first three innings of the varsity baseball matchup at East Central on Tuesday evening, but found themselves trailing 4-3 after four innings. A five-run fifth inning propelled the Dogs to an 8-4 victory, giving head coach Mike Bodart his first career head coaching victory. Zach McLean started the game for North, pitching two-and-two-thirds innings, giving up three hits and four runs (three earned). McLean issued five walks while striking out two. Joey Fry came on in relief in the third inning and threw three-and-one-third innings, giving up just one hit while striking out five and earning the victory. Left-hander Blake Osbourne closed the game with a one-hit seventh inning, striking out three of the four batters he faced. Osbourne had a hot night at the plate as well, banging out three hits and collecting a pair of RBI. Luke Harmon and Connor Hensley each had two hits, and Tyler Blythe joined Harmon and Osbourne in tallying two RBI. Eight different Bull Dogs scored the eight runs for North. The JV game was canceled due to field conditions on the JV field. JV and varsity teams are each scheduled to face Bloomington North on Thursday at 6:00 in Conference Indiana matchups. Varsity will play at Bloomington North while the JV game will be hosted by the Bull Dogs at Southside Elementary.
