May 14, 2025 - The Westfield Shamrocks were late arriving to the Southside Elementary diamonds on Tuesday evening due to traffic issues in Indianapolis. Once the game finally started, the Shamrocks dominated from start to finish, beating Columbus North 11-0 and dropping the Dogs to 7-11 for the season. The only baserunner that the Dogs could muster was a walk to Brock Kintner, but he was stranded after stealing second base. Four Bull Dogs shared the pitching duties against the Shamrocks. Freshman Bryson Satterfield got the start and threw 3-⅓ innings, allowing three runs on four hits. Classmate Grahm Bayne finished the last ⅔ of the fourth inning and allowed three runs (two earned) on one hit. Senior Jackson Newman and junior Macario Mendez saw their first action on the mound in the fifth inning. Newman allowed four runs on one hit while walking three, and Mendez allowed one run on two hits and got all three outs on strikeouts. The JV team lost 7-0 in a game shortened by darkness due to Westfield’s late arrival. The varsity will travel to Bloomington South for a Conference Indiana matchup this evening, while the JV team will host the Panthers’ young squad.
