April 7, 2023 - Like their first game against Roncalli, the Bull Dogs baseball team put themselves in an early hole against Bloomington North before settling down and holding the Cougars scoreless the rest of the way. Also like the Roncalli game, it was too little, too late as the Dogs dropped to 0-1 in Conference Indiana and 1-2 overall after an 8-2 loss at Bloomington North. Luke Harmon got his second start of the season and threw four innings, giving up nine hits and eight runs (six earned), while striking out two. Ryan Rayburn threw the final two innings, giving up no hits, no runs, and striking out three. The Dogs scattered only five hits for the game, including two by catcher Ely Lucas, one single each from Tyler Blythe and Zach McLean, and a double by Blake Osbourne. The Bull Dogs struck out twelve times as a team as only Harmon and McClean were able to tally RBI. In the JV game, played at Columbus North, the Dogs won 5-0 behind dominant pitching from Brock Kintner and Layne Schrader. Kintner threw four innings, giving up four hits and striking out seven. Schrader pitched the final two-and-two-thirds innings with no hits and striking out six Cougars. Kintner also had a pair of hits for the Bull Dogs (1-0) as the home team had seven different players tally base hits. Both teams will travel to Decatur Central Friday evening before the varsity team hosts Jeffersonville on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 noon.
