April 11, 2023 - The fourth-ranked softball team from Columbus North wasted little time jumping on Whiteland in a non-conference matchup at Southside on Monday evening. The Dogs put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning, and four more in the bottom of the second. These runs were more than enough as the Dogs cruised past the Warriors 9-1 to improve to 3-0-1 for the season. Maddi Rutan once again got the pitching start and threw six solid innings. Rutan gave up just three hits and one earned run in her six innings of work while striking out nine. Rutan turned the ball over to Bailey Scruggs in the top of the seventh inning and she gave up no hits, runs, or walks. Rutan was 4-for-4 from the plate as well, including her first homerun of the season. Miley McClellan and Bailey King each had doubles for the Dogs as they pounded out twelve hits for the game. Columbus North will host Seymour Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
