May 29, 2025 - Columbus North faced Columbus East on April 21 and trailed 3-1 heading into the sixth inning. The Dogs rallied and won 12-4. Last night at the East Central sectional, the Dogs trailed the Olympians 3-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning, hoping for another comeback. The comeback never happened and the Olympians advanced to tonight’s sectional championship game with a 3-0 victory over North. The top five batters in North’s lineup were a combined 1-for-14 for the night, with a bloop single by Summer Williams being the only hit. The Dogs left five runners on base and could muster only three hits for the game. On most nights, a complete game four hitter with just one earned run, seven strikeouts, and no walks would be enough to earn Bailee Scruggs a pitching victory. But a pair of defensive errors and cold bats for the Dogs doomed her outing. The Olympians scored one run in each of the first, third, and sixth innings and shut the Bull Dogs out to earn the victory. The Dogs finished their season 13-12, but were 4-1 in Conference Indiana, earning a share of the conference title. The Bull Dogs had hoped that one of the most difficult regular season schedules in the state would have them ready to contend for a sectional title, but the bats went cold at the wrong time for North. North will graduate three seniors, including Summer Williams, Lily Retz, and Destinee Allman.
