Dogs third in boys track and field regional, advance six events to State Finals

May 30, 2025 - Columbus North boys track and field finished third behind Bloomington North (141) and Bloomington South (74) with 62 points at the Bloomington North boys track and field regional on Thursday evening. The top three performances in each event as well as any athlete meeting the state standard mark for the event automatically qualified for next week’s State Finals. The Bull Dogs had six events qualify for State, including the 4x800m relay, 110m hurdles, 1600m, 300m hurdles, 800m, and 3200m. Bull Dog performances at the Bloomington North regional included *4x800m relay: Graham Pumphrey, Logan Vanzant, Neal White, Jace Works - 2nd (7:47.80) 100m: Matt Burge - 7th (11.31) *110m hurdles: Owen Russell - 3rd (15.34) 200m: Josiah Davis - 14th (24.03) *1600m: Pumphrey - 4th (4:15.85 - state standard met), Jonny Klaus - 6th (4:27.33) 4x100m relay: Davis, Trenton Turner, Gerald Peraltasandoval, Burge - 6th (44.41) 400m: Ben Stevens - 8th (51.48) *300m hurdles: Russell - 2nd (40.15) *800m: Works - 2nd (1:52.54), Evan Bense - 12th (2:01.48) *3200m: Neal White - 3rd (9:13.88), Denton Sluder - 6th (9:23.32) 4x400m relay: Stevens, Pumphrey, Russell, Works - 4th (3:26.62) Long jump: Tucker Tower - 10th (19-10.75) Discus: Santi DeLuna - 7th (140-10), Gary Streeval - 11th (141-11) Pole Vault - Ethan Lovell - T16th (NH) *Qualified for State Finals Photo: Jace Works finished second in the 800m and teame with Graham Pumphrey, Logan Vanzant, and Neal White to finish second in the 4x800m relay, qualifying for the State Finals in both events. Works just missed the school record in the 800m.
