Baseball teams sweep Franklin Central

April 19, 2023 - After a couple of rough starts early in the season, senior Luke Harmon got the start against Franklin Central and pitched a gem. The right-hander threw six innings, giving up two runs (both unearned) on four hits while striking out nine to help the Bull Dogs beat the Flashes 5-3. The Flashes got on the board first in the top of the first inning, but the Dogs came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead. Franklin Central tied it again with a run in the top of the third until the Dogs used a three-run sixth inning to take the lead for good. FC was able to put a run on the board against relief pitcher Connor Hensley in the top of the seventh, but Hensley and the Bull Dogs held on for the 5-3 non-conference victory. North (5-5) got two hits each from Zach McLean and Blake Osbourne as the Dogs tallied seven hits, including a three-run double by Kyler Hashman in the sixth inning. The JV (Blue) team beat Franklin Central 15-5 behind four hits from Jesse Clark and three from Jackson Newman. Jayce Emmitt pitched all six innings, giving up three earned runs on eight hits. Clark and Brock Kintner each were credited with three RBI as the team improved to 6-1 The JV (White) team will host Bloomington South this evening at the Southside diamonds at 6:00 pm. The varsity team will travel to Jennings County on Thursday (April 20 at 6:00) and host Floyd Central on Friday (5:30 pm). The JV (Blue) team will be off until Saturday when they host Roncalli at 11:00 am.
