August 21, 2025 - The boys and girls cross country teams each dominated the field in the four-team Brown County Cross Country Challenge on Wednesday afternoon. The Bull Dogs took first, second and fourth place in the boys division of the relay-style event, while the girls took the top three spots. Each runner was paired with a partner, with each competitor running the 3.1 km course consecutively. North’s Jace Works and Justin Reckers finished in 14:48.10, nearly eleven seconds ahead of teammates Denton Sluder and Graham Pumphrey, who finished second. After a pair from Silver Creek crossed the finish line in third place, the Bull Dogs then secured seven of the next eight places. Team scores were given to the top three finishing pairs from each team, with their finishing positions serving as their point totals. The Bull Dogs’ seven team points (for placing 1st, 2nd, and 4th) finished well ahead of runners up Silver Creek (20). Brown County (35) and Martinsville (41) completed the team scoring. The Bull Dog supremacy continued in the girls event, with Emma Lowther and Tristan Works winning by 27 seconds in 18:40.9. Kodi Smith and Rendy Zhong finished second in 19:07.9. The Bull Dogs earned the top five places, and eight of the top twelve. The Dogs’ six team points finished ahead of Silver Creek (25), Brown County (36), and Columbus East (46). Martinsville also competed, but only had two teams entered. Photo: North’s Tristan Works teamed with Emma Lowther to win the girls division of the Brown County Challenge on Wednesday evening.
