April 21, 2023 - Throwing a no-hitter is a rare feat in softball. An even rarer feat is a perfect game in which no batters reach base. Maddi Rutan faced 15 batters in a five-inning 12-0 victory at Southport and allowed no hits, no walks, and struck out 13 of the 15 hitters that she faced. The Bull Dogs improved to 9-0-1 for the season and 3-0 in Conference Indiana play. Kelsey Lovelace hit three-run home run, and Josie Lemmons had two hits, including a double to pace the Bull Dogs. Rutan threw 56 pitches in the victory, 46 of which were strikes. The Bull Dogs will play in Center Grove’s Russ Milligan Classic on Saturday, facing the Trojans at 10:00 and Bedford North Lawrence at noon.
