Dogs roll over Jennings County in baseball

April 21, 2023 - Columbus North pounded out eleven hits, including a pair of home runs, and allowed only three hits as the Dogs beat Jennings County 14-1 in varsity baseball Thursday evening at North Vernon. Zach McLean and Dillon James each hit home runs to pace the Bull Dogs. James accounted for five RBI as the Dogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never looked back. North added three runs in the fourth, four in the fifth inning, and four more in the top of the seventh to blow out the Panthers. Blake Osbourne got the start on the mound for the Bull Dogs. He threw five innings, giving up only three hits and one unearned run while striking out twelve. Lane Schrader then closed out the last two innings with no hits allowed and a pair of strikeouts. In JV action at Columbus North, the JV (White) team fell to Columbus East’s JV (Orange) team 18-5 to fall to 0-4 on the season. The varsity squad will host Floyd Central Friday evening, beginning at 5:30 pm and then Noblesville Saturday afternoon at 12:30. The JV (Blue) will host Roncalli Saturday morning at 11:00 am.
