August 23, 2025 - Head boys soccer coach Andy Glover believes that for his team to be tournament ready, they must face quality opponents in the regular season. After opening the season at second-ranked Noblesville and a Conference Indiana matchup with Bloomington North, Glover’s squad faced Kentucky’s top-ranked team, St. Xavier, and ninth-ranked Center Grove at the Trojan Classic on Saturday, August 23. After falling behind 2-0 in the first half against St. X, the Bull Dogs rallied for two Parker Gribbins second half goals. He scored unassisted in the 42nd minute off of a steal, and then converted a penalty kick in the 50th minute to even the match. Both teams were held scoreless the rest of the way, resulting in a 2-2 draw. St. X outshot North 15-4, including a 4-3 advantage in shots-on-goal. Keeper Nico De Linan Palacios had a pair of saves in 80 minutes, and Leo Iorio was credited with a non-keeper save. Center Grove proved too tough for the injury-plagued Dogs in the second match, winning 5-0. The Trojans built a 2-0 lead at halftime, including a score off of a rebound from penalty kick. They tacked on three second-half goals, including a pair in the final seven minutes of the match. The Trojans outshot the Bull Dogs 23-5. De Linan Palacios tallied six saves in 45 minutes in goal. Two other keepers shared time in the second half, including Jaden Andrade (two saves in 24 minutes) and Armando Duran Blanc (one save in eleven minutes). The Bull Dogs (1-2-1) will host New Albany on Tuesday evening. JV is scheduled to begin at 5:30, with varsity to follow at approximately 7:00.
