Bull Dogs sweep Cardinals in baseball

April 26, 2023 - Columbus North improved to 7-6 with a 7-3 victory over Southport. The Dogs jumped out to a 5-1 lead after just one inning and never looked back. Zach McLean got the start and the victory on the mound for the Bull Dogs. McLean threw six innings, giving up three runs on six hits while striking out four. Ryan Rayburn finished the game with a no-hit, three strikeout seventh inning. McLean helped himself at the plate with three hits as well. Blake Osbourne had three hits, including a triple, and two RBI. Luke Harmon scored a pair of runs in the victory. The JV team used a one-hit, 10-0 shutout of Southport in five innings to improve to 8-1 for the season. Dillon Long threw four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking none. Long also had three hits and three RBI. Brock Kintner, Lane Schrader, and Sam Perry each scored two runs for North. The JV team will travel to Center Grove Wednesday, April 26 for a 6:00 game, and both teams will face Seymour on Thursday night. JV will play at Seymour and the varsity will host the Owls. JV is scheduled to begin at 5:00, and the varsity game at 6:00 pm. Photo: Blake Osbourned blasts a triple in a 7-3 victory over Southport.
