September 1, 2025 - For the ninth time in ten years, the Columbus North vs Columbus East traveling trophy will be housed at Columbus North after a 52-7 victory over the Olympians on Friday evening (August 29). The victory was the most lopsided in series history. The victory has given North a 31-25 edge in the overall history, dating back to 1972. North outgained Columbus East 490-162, including a 390-94 advantage through the air. Asher Ratliff completed 22-of-30 passes and had four touchdown passes to four different receivers. His yards passing in a game set a new school record (Ryan Genth (389) in 1989). Cohen Long caught five passes for 169 yards, and Parker Elmore added seven catches for 169 yards. Ezekiel Scruggs led the ground attack with 58 yards on eight carries. Ratliff and James Scruggs each rushed for 20 yards as well for North. Davonte Degraffenreid scored after a fumble recovery in the second half and Sam Perry had a fumble recovery for the defense as the Dogs outscored the Olympians 46-7 in the middle two quarters. The Dogs will need to clean up some penalty issues as the season continues as they were hampered by flags throughout the contest. The two teams split the Saturday games, with Columbus East winning the freshman game 22-12 and the Bull Dogs winning the JV matchup 28-0. Both games were held at Columbus North. The Bull Dogs (2-0) will open Conference Indiana play when they host Southport on Friday, September 5. The Dogs will host Youth Night as part of the event.
