May 17, 2023 - Fifteen batters faced, fifteen outs. You can’t ask much more of Bull Dog pitcher Maddi Rutan and the Columbus North defense than that. For the second time this season, Rutan threw a no-hit, no-walk perfect game to lead the Bull Dogs to a 10-0 victory over visiting Jennings County, improving their season record to 22-1-1. Rutan helped herself at the plate as well with a three-run triple. Payton Morris belted a double and a homerun, and Morgan Jarvis was 3-for-3 and a pair of stolen bases. Also adding multiple hits to the Bull Dog offense were Josie Lemmons and Kelsey Lovelace. Rutan struck out eight and threw strikes on 43 of her 57 pitches as she matched the perfect game she threw against Southport on April 20. The Bull Dogs will host Hauser on Thursday at 6:00 pm to conclude their regular season before starting Sectional play next week. North will honor their seniors on Thursday as well.
