May 17, 2023 - The Columbus North girls track and field team set three Sectional meet records at Franklin High School and advanced three additional events to Tuesday’s Franklin Regional. The Bull Dogs scored 94 team points to finish fourth as a team. Center Grove won the team title with 162.5 points, Whiteland was second (117), and Franklin Community third (106). The 4x800m relay team of Carys Glyn-Jones, Julia Kiesler, Julie Klaus, and Lily Baker set a new meet record with a time of 9:47.47 to win the event by twelve seconds. Baker won the 1600m in a meet record time of 4:59.60, ten seconds faster than the rest of the field. Kiesler then set the meet record in the 3200m, with a time of 10:42.71, 17 seconds ahead of teammate Klaus, who also qualified for the Regional meet. Other Bull Dogs who received automatic bids to the Regional meet due to their top-three finish included Glyn-Jones, who finished second in the 800m, and Baker, who was third in the 800m. Other Bull Dogs who could get called back if their fourth-place finish puts them in the next-four performances among Sectional meets that feed into the Franklin Regional include Kyleigh Wolf in the 1600m, and Sierra Newell and Marieme Niang in the pole vault. The Franklin Regional will take place on Tuesday, May 23.
