May 19, 2023 - Columbus North softball concluded their regular season with an 8-2 victory over Hauser, improving their record to 23-1-1 entering Sectional play. Six Bull Dog seniors (Kirsten Danford, Kaylee Cowan, Kayden Hofelich, Josie Lemmons, Maddi Rutan, and Bailey King, were recognized at a ceremony prior to the first pitch. Rutan allowed two seventh-inning runs on six hit and walked just one. She struck out twelve batters, including the 600th strikeout of her career. 90 of the 112 pitches Rutan threw were for strikes in the game. Hits were tough to come by for the Bull Dogs against a scrappy Hauser defense. The Dogs only mustered six hits for the game, coming from six different players, but were able to take advantage of four Jets errors to put eight runs on the board. The Bull Dogs will play Columbus East in the first round of the Columbus North Sectional on Tuesday, May 23.
