Bull Dogs grabbed second place at boys track and field Sectional

May 19, 2023 - The boys track and field team hosted an IHSAA Sectional meet on Thursday evening (May 18), and earned a runner-up team finish. Center Grove ran away with the team title, tallying 205 points. The Bull Dogs were second with 114.5, and Whiteland finished third with 92 points in the ten-team field. Top three finishers in each event will automatically qualify for next week’s Regional. Those Bull Dog athletes who qualified for the Greenfield-Central Regional included 4x800m Relay (Will Russell, Akot Tong, Adler Larson, and Mateo Mendez) - 1st (7:57.45) 1600m (Russell) - 1st (4:21.30) 800m (Mendez) - 1st (1:58.79) 3200m (Neal White) - 2nd 110m hurdles (Liam Milne) - 2nd 4x400m Relay (Ben Stevens, Derek Arau-Ortiz, Tong, Mendez) - 2nd 3200m (Russell) - 3rd 110m hurdles (Owen Russell) - 3rd Pole Vault (Liam Phillips) - 3rd High Jump (Morgan Knapp) - 3rd Discus (Andrew McLean) - 3rd 800m (Tong) - 3rd The next four best performances from among those Sectionals that feed into the Greefield-Central Regional will get called back for that Regional meet. Bull Dog hopefuls include the following: Owen Russell in the 300 hurdles, Drew Schiefer in the shot put, Larson in the 1600, Stevens in the 400m, and the 4x100m relay team.
