May 25, 2023 - Bloomington North handed Columbus North its only Conference Indiana defeat on April 17. The Bull Dogs looked to avenge that loss in the Bloomington South Regional Finals on Wednesday and pulled out a 3-2 victory, their seventh consecutive Regional championship and 24th overall. The Bull Dogs rolled through the first two singles matches, with Kathryn Wilson and Aya Saad each winning 6-0, 6-0. The Dogs then needed one victory in the last three matches to secure the team title. That victory came from the two doubles team of Siri Poludasu and Nino Akhalaya, who won 6-2, 6-2. The one doubles team of Grace Conner and Lucy Bergman fell 2-6, 0-6. The most competitive battle of the evening came at three singles as North’s Annabelle Sun dropped the first set 2-6, bounced back to win the second set 6-2, but dropped the third set 5-7 to fall short in the match. Columbus North will face Jasper in the first round of the semi-state tournament in Jasper at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 27. The winner will face the winner of the Crown Point versus South Bend St. Joseph match.
