May 26, 2023 - Columbus North won the 4x800m relay, and Will Russell won the 3200m en route to a fifth place finish at the Greenfield-Central boys track and field Regional with 52 points. Those two event victories, plus Mateo Mendez’s runner-up finish in the 800m all qualify for the IHSAA State Finals in Bloomington on June 2. Russell, Akot Tong, Adler Larson, and Mendez completed the 4x800m relay in 7:51.66 to win the Regional title. Russell’s 3200m time of 9:21.64 took the top spot in that event, and Mendez completed the 800m in 1:56.69 to place runner-up. In addition to these State Finals qualifiers, the Bull Dogs had some near-miss events as well. Neal White was fourth in the 3200m, Liam Milne placed fourth in the 110m hurdles, and Liam Phillips was fourth in the pole vault, just one place outside of the qualifying standard.
