June 2, 2023 - The Columbus North boys track and field team qualified three events for the IHSAA State Championships, and all three events earned top-eight finishes. The Bull Dogs’ ten team points earned them a 26th-place team finish. Brownsburg won the team title with 55 points. Carmel finished second with 50, followed by Plainfield with 48. The 4x800m relay team of Mateo Mendez, Will Russell, Adler Larson, and Akot Tong finished seventh among a field where the top two teams each broke the State Meet record time. The Bull Dogs ran 7:54.14, approximately 17 seconds behind the top finishing team from Bloomington North (7:37.24). The Bull Dogs earned three team points for the seventh-place finish. Mendez then ran a personal-best time of 1:53.05 in the 800m to finish fifth and earn five team points. Nate Killeen from North Central won the event in 1:51.84.
