Dogs claim 4x800m relay state title en route to ninth-place team finish

June 5, 2023 - The Bull Dog 4x800m relay team of Lily Baker, Julie Klaus, Carys Glyn-Jones, and Julia Kiesler held off a strong field to win the event at the Girls Track and Field State Finals on Saturday, June 3. The state title propelled Columbus North to a ninth-place finish in the team competition with 22 points. The relay team’s 9:11.22 finishing time held off Carmel (9:12.74) and Carmel (9:12.91) in an exciting finish to the event. The Bull Dogs earned two additional podium finishes with Kielser finishing third in the 3200m (10:22.78) and Baker fifth in the 1600m (4:56.79). The pair earned seven and five points, respectively, toward the team total after the relay team had put ten points on the board for Columbus North. Klaus finished 18th in the 3200m, Baker 22nd in the 800m, and Glyn Jones finished 14th in the 800m to complete the Bull Dogs’ season at the State Finals.
