North battles to fifth draw of the season in boys soccer

October 5, 2025 - After 48 minutes on Saturday afternoon, the Columbus North boys soccer team led Bishop Fenwich (OH) 3-0 and appeared to be in total control of the match. However, the Falcons scored three times in the final 32 minutes, including one with just 54 seconds remaining in the match, to earn a 3-3 draw with the Bull Dogs. Jonah Sipes (shown scoring his second goal) had two goals (one unassisted, one of of an assist from Mathiang Kak), and Manuel Valle put the Dogs on the board first with a goal from a Parker Gribbins assist. Nicolas De Linan Palacios kept goal in the first half, but did not face a shot. Jaden Andrade took over in the second half and recorded a pair of saves. The Dogs outshot the Falcons 27-7, with an 11-5 advantage in shots-on-frame. The Bull Dogs finished the regular season with a 6-4-5 record and will begin sectional play in Whiteland against Franklin Community on Tuesday at 6:00 pm. The Grizzly Cubs are 4-12 for the season and finished seventh in the Mid-State Conference (2-5). The winner will face the winner of the Center Grove versus Columbus East match (played in the late game on Tuesday) on Wednesday evening at 8:00 pm.
