October 12, 2025 - The Columbus North boys and girls cross country teams sent their JV runners to the Brownsburg JV Invitational on Saturday and 35 of the Bull Dogs’ 50 runners recorded personal-best times. The boys finished first and the girls third in the team competition. Rohan Norris (shown) and Garrett Perfetto finished 1-2 in the boys division individually, with Leyton Hottell and Levi Carothers also finishing in the top 10. The boys’ 33 points put them well ahead of second place Brownsburg (52) and Westfield (82). 20 of the Bull Dogs’ 29 runners had personal-best performances at the meet. In the girls division, 15 of North’s 21 runners turned in personal-best times as the Dogs finished with 62 points, just two points behind runners up Fishers and well behind Zionsville (27 points) who won the team event. Sydney Madden, in fifth place, and Hazel Sasse in sixth, were the Dogs’ top two placers. Rick Sluder, head girls and boys cross county coach, was thrilled with the performances turned in by his younger runners. “The CNXC kids had their best day on their last day this season- just what every team desires to do!” he explained after the meet. This will conclude the JV runners’ season as the varsity squad will begin sectionals next Saturday, October 18, in Brown County.
