July 28, 2023 - Columbus North Athletics has announced the hiring of two new head coaches. Bob Arthur will take over the gymnastics program and TJ Jarvis will head the softball program following the recent resignations of Kaitlyn Rediker and Ron McDonald, respectively. Arthur has been in the Columbus North gymnastics program for 32 years serving as both an assistant as well as co-head coach. He is a 1977 Columbus North graduate (where he was a standout gymnast earning four varsity letters and three team State Championships) and earned a BS in Industrial Management from Purdue in 1982, where he co-founded the Purdue Gymnastics Club. He has 44 years of gymnastics experience overall. He was presented the Jack Cramer Ideals of Athletic Competition Award in 2022. “In addition to continuing our lineage of program success (at Columbus North), my goals are for our athletes to have a safe, healthy season while improving and growing as athletes and people along the way,” Arthur explained. Jarvis has been on the Columbus North softball staff for the past two seasons along with 20 years coaching travel baseball and softball. He recently coached a 13U team to the USSSA National Championship and he oversees the Demand Command softball program. In addition, Jarvis has coached basketball at Northside Middle School for the past three seasons. He is a 1994 graduate of Grennon High School in Springfield, Ohio. He has four adult children and a daughter, Morgan, a sophomore-to-be at Columbus North. Jarvis and his wife Leanne Lacey Jarvis reside in Columbus. “I look to continue to lead, develop, and build onto the success of what Coach (Ron) McDonald and his staff has left us,” said Jarvis. Athletic Director Brian Lewis is excited to have both coaches lead programs at Columbus North. “Both of these coaches are blessed to be taking over programs that are in championship-caliber conditions. Both of these coaches played key roles in building the success in these programs, and I know that these teams are in good hands as we transition to new leadership,” Lewis explained. Both Arthur and Jarvis will assume head coach responsibilities pending approval from the BCSC School Board and will begin the process of assembling staffs for their respective programs.
