Volleyball falls just short in sectional semifinals

October 18, 2025 - After beating Franklin Community 3-1 at home on October 9 and building a 2-0 set lead in Saturday’s sectional semifinal against the Grizzly Cubs, the Bull Dogs stumbled and fell 3-2 to Franklin Community and completed their season with a 19-12 record. The 19 win season was the best season since 2014 for Columbus North. The Dogs won the first two sets by identical 25-22 scores before the Cubs rallied to win set three 25-21 and set four 26-24, forcing a fifth set tiebreaker. Franklin dominated the final set, winning 15-7 and advancing to Saturday evening’s sectional finals against East Central. Statistical leaders for the Bull Dogs included: Digs: Morgan Osborn (26), Hannah Perry (10) Assists: Lexi Denny (43) Kills: Tania Maldonado (14), Karen Dutro (13), Sydney Ousley (11) Service Aces: Osborn and Denny (3) Blocks: Dutro (6) The Bull Dogs will graduate seven seniors, five of which were starters or in the regular varsity rotation throughout the season.
