Dogs win first two games at Cheatham Classic. Will play for title this evening

December 30, 2025 - Scottsburg High School hosted the annual Cheatham Classic girls basketball tournament on December 29 and 30. The Bull Dogs won their first two games and will face Eastern Pekin for the tournament championship this evening (Tuesday, December 30) at approximately 7:45 pm. In round one, Riley Sims had 13 points and four steals, Avery Johnson had twelve points, and Kaylie Harmon added eleven as the Bull Dogs beat Brownstown Central 52-41. The Dogs got off to a rough start, falling behind 17-8 after one quarter of play, but battled back to take a 22-21 lead into halftime before a 30-20 advantage in the second half sealed the victory. In the second round, North avenged a December 12 at East Central with a 52-29 victory over the Trojans at the Cheatham Classic. Harmon tallied 14 points and the Dogs got twelve from Sims, and eleven from Johnson as North outscored the Trojans 31-12 in the second half to win handily. The Bull Dogs (12-3) will face Eastern Pekin (9-3) in the championship game this evening. Eastern earned a berth in the title game with victories over Madison and Batesville.
