Dogs use balanced offensive attack to grab first victory of the season

November 12, 2023 - Kaylie Harmon (shown) scored 13 points, Avery Johnson and Hadassah Hurt each had twelve, and Miley McClellan added ten to help lead a balanced Bull Dog offensive attack in a 55-27 victory over Martinsville. The victory was the first in the young season for Columbus North, who improved to 1-2. The Bull Dogs jumped out to a 29-12 halftime lead with the help of four three-point goals, two by Harmon, and one each by Johnson and Hurt. The Dogs went on to bury seven total for the game and were 6-for-11 from the free throw line for the contest. A total of seven different Bull Dogs scored in the victory. The JV team improved to 3-0 with a 39-10 victory in the early game. After leading only 9-3 at the halftime break, North went on to outscore the Artesians 30-7 the rest of the contest to pull away for their third victory of the season. Audrey Nordman led the JV squad with nine points. Next up for the Bull Dogs will be a pair of road contests. On Tuesday, North will open its Conference Indiana season at Southport before a varsity-only matchup on the road at New Albany on Thursday evening. The JV game at Southport will begin at 6:00 with the varsity to follow.
