January 25, 2024 - Head girls basketball coach Brett White knew that the second half of their schedule was going to be a challenge even before the season began. After jumping out to an 8-2 record after ten games, his team has stumbled a bit down the stretch. However, he’s hoping that the 57-49 victory at Rushville Wednesday evening will be a catalyst for a tournament run in the postseason. Freshman Kaylie Harmon netted 22 points and sophomore Miley McClellan added twelve as the Bull Dogs leveled their season record at 11-11 with one regular season game to play. The Dogs jumped out to an 18-8 lead after just one quarter as North buried four three-point goals in the first quarter (three by Harmon), forcing Rushville to play catch-up the rest of the game. North put the game out of reach, knocking down 20-of-26 free throws for the game, including 15-for-20 in the fourth quarter to hold on for their eleventh victory of the season. Audrey Nordman scored twelve points and Riley Sims chipped in ten as the JV team improved to 15-3 with a 36-20 victory in the early game. Both teams will conclude the regular season when they host Roncalli on Thursday evening (January 25). JV will tip off at 6:00 with varsity to follow. Columbus North will recognize the program’s seniors, Olivia Johnson and Kaitlin White as part of Senior Night during the event.
