November 2, 2022 - The Columbus North girls basketball team wasted no time getting quality opponents on their game schedule as they hosted the sixth-ranked Royals from Hamilton Southeastern. The Bull Dogs battled, but fell 65-49 to begin their season 0-1. The Royals jumped out to a 19-12 first quarter lead, but a 12-12 second quarter kept the Dogs within striking distance at the halftime break. The Bull Dogs cut the Royals’ lead to 41-37 in the middle of the third quarter, but a 9-0 run stretched the game out to 50-37 and Hamilton Southeastern held on for the victory and a 1-0 start to their season. Hadassah Hurt came off the bench to lead the Bull Dogs with ten points. Lauren Barker added eight and Emma Long scored seven for North. The two teams split the early games with HSE grabbing the JV victory 44-21, and North taking the C-team game 30-17.
