November 6, 2022 - Columbus North’s girls’ basketball team, facing its second highly-ranked opponent in as many games, fell at Franklin Community 65-28 to drop to 0-2 for the season. The Dogs made only nine shots from the floor for the game and struggled to an 8-for-19 tally from the free throw line. Franklin, conversely, made more three-point goals than the Dogs made field goals overall as they buried ten from long range. Freshman Miley McClellan led the Bull Dogs with six points, followed by Kayla Jones’ five. Four other Dogs contributed three points apiece in the losing effort. The Bull Dogs will travel to Martinsville on Friday, November 11 for a JV/Varsity doubleheader beginning at 6:00 pm. Franklin and Columbus North split the early games, with North taking the JV game 41-27 and Franklin edging the Bull Dogs 30-27 in the C-team game. The Dogs were led in scoring for the sub-varsity games by Paige Terry with 13 points in the JV game, and Rachael Tinsley’s nine points in the C game.
