November 14, 2024 - Three Columbus North student athletes participated in a collegiate signing ceremony hosted by the Columbus North Athletics Department on Wednesday, November 13 in the CNHS Cafeteria. Each athlete was presented by Athletic Director Brian Lewis and a representative from their high school coaching staff. Family, friends, and teammates of each athlete were in attendance. Student athletes participating in this ceremony represented Columbus North girls basketball and boys soccer programs. These student athletes’ future colleges or universities represent the NAIA and NCAA Division 3 levels. Emma Beaver - Emma Beaver signed to play women’s basketball at NAIA IU Columbus. Emma will be joining a Crimson Tide program that is currently in its inaugural season of women’s basketball. Emma was awarded the Martha Kolb Award in the Columbus North girls basketball program following her junior season for her persistence, determination, and teamwork. She appeared in eight varsity games as a junior and started all 18 junior varsity games. Emma plans to study Education while at IU Columbus with the intention of a career as an elementary teacher. Hadassah Hurt - Hadassah Hurt also signed to play women’s basketball at NAIA IU Columbus. Hadassah was named All Conference Indiana Honorable Mention following her 2022-23 sophomore season and then was first team All-Conference following her junior year. Hadassah averaged 10.8 points and 3.1 rebounds/assists her junior season before her season was cut short due to injury. She has already started her senior season with a bang, scoring 18 points in a season-opening victory at Franklin Community last Saturday. Hadassah plans to major in nursing and be an operating room nurse down the road. Konnor Gribbins - Konnor Gribbins signed to play men’s soccer at Division 3 Hanover College. Konnor is a four-year letter winner for the Bull Dogs and a three-year starter. He earned Academic All-State and first-team All-Conference honors both his junior and senior seasons. He was named the Top Team Player by the ISCA and was Second-team All District 4. He considered offers from Wittenberg University and Concordia University in Wisconsin before choosing Hanover. Konnor plans to study biology on his way to a veterinary degree while at Hanover. There will be two additional collegiate signing ceremonies for the Class of 2025 on February 5 and April 16, 2025.
