North opens Conference Indiana season with victory over Southport

November 20, 2024 - North girls basketball improved to 4-0 for the season with a 48-40 victory home victory against Southport Tuesday evening. Kenna Conrad and Kaylie Harmon each had 14 points and Hadassah Hurt and Avery Johnson added eight points each as the Dogs began the Conference Indiana season 1-0. Sydni Schiefer had ten and Rian Strietelmeier added nine as the JV team remained undefeated with a 31-16 victory in the early game. North led the varsity game by just one point after the first quarter and at the half before stretching the lead in the second half. North showed great improvement at the free throw line compared to earlier in the season as they knocked down 13-of-19 from the charity stripe. The Dogs hit five three-point goals, including three by Harmon. The Bull Dogs will host New Albany on Thursday evening, with the JV scheduled to tip off at 6:00 and the varsity to follow at approximately 7:30.
