Dogs knock off Olympians in girls basketball

December 16, 2022 - The Columbus North girls basketball team used an 11-0 run to start the second half against Columbus East to propel them to a 62-40 victory over the Olympians as part of Winter Rivalry Week between the cross-town rival schools. The Bull Dogs (7-4) finished 12-for-21 from the three-point line, six of which were from senior Lauren Barker as she tied a school record for three-point goals in a game. Barker finished with a team-high 26 points. Freshman Miley McClellan added ten points for the Dogs and Hadassah Hurt chipped in eight. Kayla Jones and Olivia Johnson each had four rebounds to pace the Dogs. The JV team (8-3) got the night started with a 49-18 victory over East. Kenna Conrad had twelve points to pace the Dogs. Columbus East did not have a freshman team. All three Bull Dog teams will travel to Jennings County for a matchup with the Panthers on Tuesday, December 20. Sub-varsity games will begin at 6:00, with varsity to follow.
