December 11, 2024 - The Bull Dogs knew they were up for a significant challenge when they hosted 7-2 Brownsburg and their 6’6” post player. They knew they had to try to get her in foul trouble, make jumpshots on the offensive end, and force someone else to beat them. While much of that strategy went according to plan, Brownsburg jumped out to an early lead and rolled to a 77-54 victory, giving North its first loss of the season. The Bull Dogs knocked down ten three-point goals, including four by Hadassah Hurt and three by Kaylie Harmon, but Brownsburg answered with nine threes of their own. While the home team did manage to get Brownsburg’s post player in foul trouble, she managed 25 points despite having to spend significant stretches on the bench. Brownsburg had ten different players score, including five players who scored seven points or more for the game. North made a number of runs, cutting into Brownsburg’s lead, but were unable to overcome the size and defensive speed of the visiting team. Hurt finished with 17 points, with Harmon adding 13 and Avery Johnson chipping in 11 for North, however, only five Bull Dogs scored in the game as Columbus North fell to 8-1. Sydni Schiefer led North with nine points in the JV game, but the Bull Dogs also lost their first game of the year 53-27, falling to 8-1. Both teams will be back in Memorial Gymnasium on Thursday night when they host East Central at 6:00 pm.
