January 23, 2025 - Columbus North knocked down eleven three-point goals and scored 58 points on Wednesday night. In most games, that’s enough offense to win. However, when hosting the Class 3A third ranked Dragons from Silver Creek, a team will need more than that. The Dragons were 13-for-24 from the three point line and 11-for-14 from the free throw line on their way to a 76-58 victory. The Dragons jumped out to a 24-11 lead after one quarter before the Dogs made a run in the second quarter. North had cut Silver Creek’s lead to just eight in the third quarter, but the Dragons answered with a 10-0 run to stretch the lead. A few mini runs by the Dogs kept the game competitive, but the Dragons were just too much to handle as North fell to 14-6 for the season. Avery Johnson led the Dogs with 21 points and eleven rebounds, including 16 points in the first half. Kaylie Harmon scored eleven points, all in the second half, and Hadassah Hurt added ten in the loss. Kenna Conrad and Syndey Johnson each had five rebounds for North. Columbus North won the JV game 50-25 Claire Finney and Sydni Schiefer each scored ten points and Riley Sims added nine as the young squad improved to 15-2. North will host Bloomington North on Friday to conclude their Conference Indiana season. The Dogs are 3-1 in Conference Indiana and hope to secure a second-place finish in the conference behind Bloomington South.
