Dogs outlast Silver Creek in girls basketball

January 19, 2023 - Columbus North scored the first seven points of the third quarter to overcome a two-point halftime deficit, and knocked down nine out of twelve free throws in the deciding fourth quarter to hold off Silver Creek 57-51. The Bull Dogs were 17-for-22 from the free throw line for the game and committed only nine turnovers. North outrebounded the Dragons 33-29, including 13 offensive rebounds, led by nine total rebounds from Kathryn Wilson. Lauren Barker had 21 points for Columbus North (12-7) and is now 40 career points away from 1000. Kennedy Horn chipped in 15 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks, and senior Emma Long led the Bull Dogs with four assists. The JV team fell 40-27 to Silver Creek, led by Sydney Johnson’s eight points, falling to 11-7 for the season. The C-team beat Brebeuf Jesuit 20-13 in the other early game. Payton Morris had ten points for the Dogs for the C-team, who concluded their season with a 10-1 record. The JV and varsity teams will play host to Bloomington North on Friday. The varsity team is looking to finish off an undefeated Conference Indiana season with a victory over the Cougars.
