January 25, 2023 - Six players in the history of Bull Dog girls basketball had made six three-point goals in a game, including senior Lauren Barker who had done it twice before. Barker has now set the bar higher, knocking down eight three-point goals in a 59-35 victory over Rushville. Barker’s eight threes helped her set a new career high with 30 points in Tuesday’s game. Twice before she had tallied 26 points, including earlier this season against Columbus East. Barker already holds the program record for career three-point goals made, now increased to 209. She is now just six points shy of 1000 career points with one regular-season game to play before beginning the Sectional tournament next week. A sluggish start saw the Dogs (14-7) fall behind Rushville 6-4 after a quarter, but they rallied in the second quarter to take a 21-17 halftime lead. The second half was all Bull Dogs as they cruised to the 24-point Senior Night victory. Barker joined fellow seniors Emma Long, Kayla Jones, and Moana Steele in being recognized prior to the beginning of the varsity contest. Long had four assists and Kathryn Wilson contributed eleven rebounds in the victory. Kennedy Horn added ten points and eight rebounds for North. The JV team improved to 13-7 with a 47-20 victory in the early game. Emma Beaver had twelve points and Audrey Nordman tallied ten as the Dogs controlled the game throughout. North will travel to Roncalli for their regular-season finale on Thursday, January 26 beginning at 6:00 pm. The Bull Dogs have drawn a rematch with Franklin Community in the first round of the Shelbyville Sectional next Tuesday, January 31.
