January 27, 2023 - While the final score wasn’t what the Bull Dogs wanted in their last regular-season game at Roncalli, the 63-41 loss was an easier pill to swallow watching senior Lauren Barker reach the career 1000-point milestone. Barker nailed a three-point goal late in the third quarter to become the twelfth player in program history to score 1000 points in her career. As her teammates embraced and celebrated with her, host school Roncalli stopped the game, announced her achievement, and put Barker’s picture on their video board. Barker’s eleven points pushed her career total to 1005. Her two three-point goals pushed her program career record total to 211. A slow start with cold shooting saw the Dogs fall behind 11-7 after a quarter and 25-19 at the half. However, It was a 20-6 third quarter Roncalli advantage that sealed the game as the Royals cruised to the 22-point victory, dropping the Bull Dogs’ record to 14-8 at the conclusion of the regular season. Kathryn Wilson led the Bull Dogs in scoring with 14 points and North was 13-for-15 from the free throw line for the game. The JV team finished their season with a 38-35 overtime victory over Roncalli to conclude their season at 14-7 (4-1 in Conference Indiana). Sydney Johnson and Anna Halstead each had ten points for the Bull Dogs in the victory. The Bull Dogs will face Franklin Community in the first round of the Shelbyville Sectional beginning on Tuesday, January 31 at 6:00 pm.
